Testing Out The New Hot Water Heater

The dishwasher is running, I am washing pots and pans in hot soapy water in the sink, I tell Monte to go take a shower. When he is done so are my pots and pans. Hunter is getting out of the shower, dishwasher still going as hubby walks in the door from working in the garage....

Hubby - I'm going to go take a shower

Me - Oh, Uh, I hope there is still some hot water

Hubby - Not more than I do

Wordless Wednesday - A Cuddly Friend

This week for her photo tag, Stephanie is asking to see our diaper bags/purses.

I must admit I am not a typical girl in the purse department. I will buy a purse I like and use that purse for years without even thinking of buying a new one. And when I have a baby, the diaper bag IS my purse.

So, this is it. No great story behind it, just needed a diaper bag after Carter was born. (besides the one they give you in the hospital) I couldn't really find one I liked, and then one day at Babies R Us I saw this one. It's black, it's a back pack, and it's hot pink on the inside. Oh yeah, that's me.

But I'm now on the hunt for the perfect summer bag. I think I might have seen it today hanging from Stephanie's arm. (Hint Hint Ashlee!)

Your first baby is your baby the longest. I remember with Monte no matter how old he was, he was the "baby". Until Hunter was born when he was 3. Then over night he turned into a little boy. But although time went fast, nothing compares to how it is now with Carter. I feel like I've only blinked and here he is 9 months old.

Look at him. He started crawling, and 2 days later he was pulling up on everything. And last night he started at one end of the couch and cruised on over to the other side. Whats up with that?! Your the BABY. Slow down a bit would you?! But he isn't having any of that. He has 2 older brothers to catch up to I guess. We've had a crash course in baby proofing this week.

He still sleeps with me at night, but during the day he naps in his crib. The other day when he woke up I heard him babbling to himself. I left him for a moment to finish loading the dishwasher. All of a sudden I hear screaming. He was standing in his crib holding on the the side for dear life. I guess we got that mattress lowered just in time.

There is something that changes in them when they become mobile. They seem so much older over night. Seem to understand so much more. His favorite thing right now is to shake his head no. It's really the cutest thing.

In 3 short months he will be 1. Wow! Really, where does the time go.....

My Shoes?

It's Monday, and Stephanie is asking us to show our favorite pair of shoes. And what woman doesn't love shoes. And what mom doesn't want a pair of shoes that she can just slip on and off. No hands needed.

These are those shoes. I bought them this fall at Payless and have worn them almost every day since. Even first thing in the morning to take Monte to school in my pajamas. Not fashionable, but no one saw my feet.

During the summer I live in flip flops. But since there is only one Flip Flop Mamma, I will not show you my collection. Well, that, and they are all still packed away in a box somewhere. And as for those silly looking Crocs everyone is wearing, I'm going to have to get a pair. I tried my friends on the other day. Can you say comfortable!

Moving In The Right Direction

And a question......

How often does your older baby nurse?

I had someone tell me the other day that Carter nurses a lot for a baby his age. It wasn't something I had ever thought of. When he's hungry I feed him. When he's tired I nurse him to sleep. When he gets a boo-boo and needs some loving, I comfort him. And when he's crabby, his brother's say "NURSE HIM"! I never understood how a mother got her breast feed baby on a schedule.

So I counted. Yesterday he nursed 8 times. There are days when it's more and days when it's less. What he needs is what he gets. He still isn't eating much food. He's not at all impressed. He likes bananas and he likes apples, and he likes variations of these, like bananas WITH apples! So at almost 9 months breast milk is still his main source of food. But isn't that how it's supposed to be.

But now I'm curious about you. Let me know.

Go Baby Go

We have been having some amazing temperatures around here the past few days. Upper 50's, 60's yesterday, they are saying 70's today! I'm giddy with excitement. I can't get the boys to come inside, they love the outdoors, as little boys should.

But look who else seems to love it. Okay, so this picture doesn't show much excitement on his part, your just going to have to trust me. We have taken walks everyday since Friday. In his stroller. I'm shocked. And anyone that knows Carter will be just as shocked. I emailed this picture to my MIL and she called me. HE RODE IN A STROLLER? Oh yes he did. And he LOVED it. Not that I mind carrying him, but he is 22 pounds. And what a "mommy thing" to do. Walk the baby around the neighborhood!

Today we are putting Hunter on the bus and baby and I are going shopping. To an outdoor mall! I haven't been in months. I don't deal with cold too well. So we are going to make the most of this warm weather. It won't last. It's going to get cold again the end of the week. I won't be surprised if it snows.

And in bus news, Monte walked to the bus stop today. ALONE. (I watched from the window) He is growing up. Or maybe it's me that's growing up.

Possessions

Stephanie is asking us to share a cherished possession.

This is a picture of Monte and Hunter's baby rings. When I was pregnant with Monte a lady I worked with, Nancy, wore her baby ring and her 3 kids baby rings around her neck every day. When her son got married she bought a new chain and put his baby ring on it and gave it to her new daughter-in-law. Later when her daughter got married, I still remember the tears she shed giving up that baby ring. The last I saw her, she had her ring still and her youngest sons around her neck.

I quit work 5 days before Monte was born. After his birth all the people I worked with chipped in and bought me a nice gift. But tucked inside from Nancy alone was a gold chain with a baby ring. I too started wearing "my ring" everyday.

When I had Hunter I was still sort of close with Nancy and she added another ring for him. But we haven't talked in a while, as time will do, and I remember thinking after I had Carter that she doesn't even know I had another baby. I will buy him a baby ring to add to his brothers.

I go through spurts wearing them, right now not wearing them. I'd hate for Mr. Carter Grabby Hands to rip them off my neck. But I always wonder if I could be like Nancy. Could I give something so precious to me away.

Not Having Internet For A Month.....

.....will drive you insane! Okay, so maybe it wasn't that bad, but I had my moments. But what it will do.....

You will not tell your kids, Hold on one moment...
It will help you keep every dish in your house clean...
Help to keep your bathrooms sparkling...
And I even made ALL the beds EVERY day...
It will help you read more books...
But you also have more time to watch stupid TV...
You will go to bed early out of pure boredom...
And make you wonder what you are going to do while you drink your morning coffee...

I'm sure I spent more time with my kids, which is a good thing, but I did miss all of you. I didn't realize how much I need the connection with all you mommy friends. But looking back, it DID go by fast, and I don't need internet to survive.

But here is a sign of the times we live in......I needed to order checks, and didn't know how I was going to do that without internet. And one afternoon my husband said "I will order that tonight" to which I said, "How, we don't have internet?". I had to laugh when he held up the catalog and pointed at the 1-800 number. Oh, how spoiled we have become.

But for those that don't know this already.....When we moved they said our internet would be transfer on Feb. 21st. When that day came and went and we had no internet, my husband sat on the phone for more than an hour trying to figure out what was wrong. They said they would send someone out the next day. No one ever came. So we called again. They said it was determined there was a problem in their central line not one of ours and they didn't need to come out after all. Thanks for the phone call. And that it would be ready March 9th. And just for the record, no matter how much you complain and threaten to go to another internet provider, THEY DON'T CARE! It will be when they say and there is NOTHING you can do about it.

But I'm back. WOO HOO!!! Can't wait to get caught up on all of you......which should take another month!!!
