One Year
The first birthday is always bittersweet. I miss that precious little newborn that he was, but look forward to all the many milestones I know that he will meet. He no longer nurses peacefully in my arms, but would rather do so standing on his head and feet with his butt up in the air. It only makes me cherish more the "down" nursing times. As rare as they have become.
Sometimes I miss the sleepy baby in my arms where ever we were, that precious little newborn. But I wouldn't trade it for the laughing, the clapping, the waving, those sweet slobbery baby kisses, the way he shakes his head "no" at any question you ask him, the silly little toddler that he is quickly becoming.
He is not walking yet like his brothers were, has not said a handful of word like Hunter had, but by your 3rd child you no longer care when they hit these milestones and don't compare them to other babies.
But I love that he has a mouthful of teeth (his brothers got theirs late) and will eat anything I give him. He might not open for seconds or thirds, but he has not spit anything back at me either.
He seems to be slowing down a bit. He was 24lbs. and 31 in. Only 2 pounds since January. But that's good. I don't mind him getting bigger, but I also want him to be my baby for as long as possible.

A Contest
Stephanie is at it again. Another contest. This time it is for this from Stroller Mama. I think even if I don't win I might have to buy one. My MIL just won a 42in. plasma TV. Maybe the luck will run in the family!!! You can try yours too.

Happy Birthday Carter
Today my baby is one. It's amazing how fast the time has gone. 365 days ago Carter was born one week early weighing 9lb. 5 oz. and was 22 in. long. I just can't believe how fast it's gone. I blame it on how much busier we are now than when his brothers where babies. It has really made me cherish those precious moments we have. To not sweat the small stuff and really enjoy the moment.
Carter, from the moment they layed you in my arms you fit into our family like you'd been there forever. Our surprise baby. I couldn't imagine having another baby, and now I can't imagine not. I've been horrible about writing in your baby book, and have just a fraction of the home videos that we have of your brothers, but the love for you is just the same.
Thank you for making me a mommy again!

It's A Guy Thing
Last weekend my hubby took the older boys camping. This backpack was just for fun before they left. A friend of my father-in-law owns a farm with a really nice pond on it. My hubby has access to fish/camp anytime he wants. He's been taking Monte and Hunter there since they were little. But this was the first time they camped there.
I stayed home with Carter. Okay, actually we went shopping, but I don't like to camp. And so I didn't mind being "left out" of this overnighter. And I think even the boys liked that I stayed home. That they got Dad all to themselves.

Anyone Want To Swim?
Look what landed in my back yard Saturday. WOO HOO!!! The boys are SO excited. Too bad we had to drain it. Drain it you say? Oh yes. Apparently when they put the shop vac between the wall and the liner to keep all the wrinkles out, the sand underneath wasn't wet enough and it sucked up a ton of sand. So the right side of the pool was wavy on the bottom. But no worries. They fixed it this morning, and it is filling up. They are even going to pay us for the water that was wasted. Tomorrow they will come back to hook up the filter and then we can swim. Or rather the boys can swim. I don't swim in hose water. It needs to warm up a bit for baby and I.
This turned out to be an ordeal. The pool was supposed to go in Thursday. It was way to windy so they dug the hole and came back Friday. Still too windy. So Saturday it was. Monday was the draining of the pool, today I think (I pray) all is fixed, and tomorrow is the filter. I've seen these guys for five mornings now. It will be six tomorrow. I'm thinking at this point I should be cooking them breakfast and making coffee!!

It Makes No Sense
Carter is sick. Again. Runny nose, cough. Some things never change. And to be honest, he picked a horrible time. Sunday is my hubby's 30th birthday and we are having a barbecue at our house. (rain or shine) Trying to shop, cook, and clean, plus baseball, has proven to be quite difficult with Crabby Carter in tow.
Now I'm not quick to spoon out the cold medicine, but for the sake of his sleep, and mine, I gave him some. Let me just say that he hasn't eaten ANYTHING for 2 days. Even his beloved Cheerios have all been thrown back at me. Not that it's a big deal. He's still nursing great, but when I gave him the medicine, he took it like a champ. And then opened his mouth up for more. And I think I heard a little Mmmm escape. Seriously?
So I thought I'd try an all time favorite. Bananas. Nope. You'd think I was feeding him poison. Really? Medicine good. Bananas bad?

And did anyone notice what humidity does to his hair? Haha!!!
And just because I'm in the running for mother of the year......it's midnight and I'm washing Hunter's baseball uniform because I had all day to do it and forgot.
